Alure recently remodeled the Ali Family home for an episode of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. Alure was so impressed with Paul and Kuran Ali, both age 12, that we wanted to do more to affect their lives in the future. Sal Ferro had an idea—college scholarships to help the boys realize their dreams. At a company meeting in the middle of the makeover, the idea was unanimously approved by Alure’s staff. $60,000 was put into a trust fund pay to for their college education. Thanks to the viewers who voluntarily sent contributions.

In honor of Alure's commitment to help others, the Same Simon Foundation has named a service dog after Sal Ferro, President of Alure. "Sal" is a Maltese/Minature Poodle mix puppy. "He has a perfect disposition and perfect energy for a Service Dog," says Tyler Winslow of the Sam Simon Foundation, "He was rescued from a local animal shelter--as all of our dogs are--and will enter our foundation’s Hearing Dog program in the next couple of weeks. We are confident that we will see great things from him and, at the completion of his training, he will be adopted out at no cost to a deaf person in Southern California to make daily life a little easier."
